Portal game freeze

It seems I can sit in menus forever, but actual gameplay will trigger the freeze well before a minute has passed. Probably tried a few other things, got a little frustrating and quit for a while. Also, if I may add a couple other tech issues: Vsync seems to work sometimes and not so well at other times. I have tried using the Steam overlay for FPS and half the time vsync will properly set itself to Hz for my monitor and the other half it'll lock to a weird number like 66, occasionally 60 flat.

Even at Hz, the character motion seems Is this normal? Like, it seems like frames of animation are missing when jumping, his motions aren't silky smooth like I'd expect. A design decision or indicative of a problem on my end? Last edited by Xbob42 ; 2 Aug, am. Showing 1 - 15 of 23 comments.

Running the game directly from the. But I can open and see the overlay fine before the freeze happens via Steam. Windows 8 compat mode and Admin make no difference. Thanks for the update. Turns out it was never on your end at all, I first noticed when it happened in Rocket League after I switched it to fullscreen windowed mode. Prior it occasionally went black if I alt-tabbed in that game, but I figured it was some weird conflict.

But no, that game and this one ended up having the same problem. And you know what that means! The problem was on my end. A very specific solution to a very specific problem. Ah well! Less work on your end! Happens to me as well. Not all the time but sometimes. Not sure the cause. Sometimes can wait 5 minutes and game resumes. Other times game completely crashes with spinning windows mouse wheel. I have no clue what the issue is since my game used to run flawless the entire time.

I always also able to do Corrupted Breaches some days ago, untill the first crash appeared and it seems now to crash as soon as the breach is destroyed…. Anyway this is annoying… since corruption breaches play a major role in the game not only for exp grinding but also dungeon acess. I really cannot enjoy the game at this point. Starting days ago. The first two or three times the game will most likely stop freezing and you can continue playing.

But at some point it freezes so that it kicks you from the server. Someone advised to turn off the voice chat and twitch integration, there was no way to test it yet. I am also experiencing this. Crashed 2 times in a matter of a couple of hours. All while doing Corruption portals. However, if the lag is ingame such as experiencing rubber band effect, or notice skills and effects are spammed after a delay then this is network related lag. Lastly, it could be the mouse has lost focus and is not on the game client, to address this specific issue press on keyboard's Windows key then click the game client once.

Posted 14 November - PM. Hey Cinnamon, I posted a problem related to this and never got any kind of answer, do you mind checking it? In this one the client will skip all movements, castings and damage taken and just update when unfrozen.

A new cast of the same or new skill wont trigger it as long the caster is already in the screen. Leaving and re-entering the screen also wont trigger it. Tried every option in the config menu of the client.

I have Windows Lan, The symptoms described lead to packet loss through the connection route to server. The game froze and was completely unresponsive indefinitely. Posted October 26, This issue is reproducible and happens every time 4 times consecutively on this save though which player transfer offer rejection it occurs on varies.

I click continue and it sims to July 1st and then just reject transfer offers until it crashes. I can confirm that I experienced this issue too. It happens when you reject multiple transfer offers in the 'Transfer' screen.
