Unknown device usb windows 7 mouse

Status Not open for further replies. Hello all, I've been trying for quite some hours to install a new mouse i got and i'm desperate. I ordered two of these Chic mice from ebuyer, and tried to install them on two laptops. I read in their instructions that they can be used with USB and that they are compatible. Also, some people in ebuyer said that they work ok. Well as soon as i plug the mouse in the USB i get an Unknown device message.

When i try to manually install the drivers, i cant, because they only drivers i get in the driver list are "Unknown device". This is so annoying, and i've spent so many hours on this Anyone's got any suggestions? In my experience they always cause problems sooner or later. Go to the Chic Technology Corp. Hey guys thanks for the replies and sorry for taking so long to reply.. Nodsu: That's not a bad idea, although i paid quid for the mouse, and another 1 on the adaptor, i'm not willing to pay more, i'll probably sell them on ebay and get another one I was just curious why this didnt work Mailpup: I tried that You need to install the drivers before plugging in the mouse.

Or something to do with compatibility anyway. IronDuke: It wouldnt matter if i unplugged and plug again the mouse To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. Take care! Thank you for posting back. I really appreciate your time and efforts. I recommend you to restore the computer to a previous date when the USB ports were working.

Here is how it is done. This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore point. Restore points are generated when you install a new app, driver, or Windows update, and when you create a restore point manually. Let me know how it goes. Take care. The laptop has been installed with clean installation of Windows Therefore, there is no recovery point. Selecting "Chipset Controller" installing the Chipset Controller on the device manager but the propery shows that "No drivers are installed for this device".

Follow below steps and check if it helps. Open Device Manager by running devmgmt. Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers and right click on the device not recognized, select Properties. In the property sheet, switch to Details tab.

For the Property drop down, select Device instance path. In the Value section, highlight the value and right click it, select Copy. Registry Disclaimer: The further steps will involve registry manipulation. Making mistakes while manipulating registry could affect your system adversely.

So be careful while editing registry entries and create a System Restore point first. Click OK. This should take you to registry key of problematic USB device. You can also manually navigate to its registry key:. Reboot the machine, re-plug the device and the issue should no longer persist. Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. Tried that but it was not successful. Hi, I have the same problem on my external dirve.

Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community. In the next part, we mainly show you the common troubleshooting methods for the device descriptor request failed error in Windows As a matter of fact, Windows 7 and Windows XP users are also having the same problem. Never mind applying the solutions to your own Windows operating system.

They're all-OS-versions compatible. In case that unknown USB device device descriptor request failed error happens because the USB port is not working or USB device is damaged , the following three fixes are significant to try before going to further troubleshooting.

Step 1. Connect USB flash drive to your computer. Click "Scan" button to start looking for lost files on PC. Step 2. When the scan completes, you can apply the "Filter" feature or the click the search box to quickly find the lost files from USB. Step 3. In the link you sent it apparently deals with W7. As I have W8. Probably the same, or otherwise, you could check the internet.

I do not have windows 8. If i come across the clue, will inform you. Yesterday I was on the laptop for about 3 hours when the message came up again and I had to disconnect the mouse and reconnect again. This happened three times in the space of 20 minutes. I then connected into the same usb port with my other mouse and the error did not occur for the rest of the session. I think the small mouse that came with the laptop case my wife bought me could have a fault.

The larger mouse now in use came was originally used with the now defunct computer and I never had any problems with it over the four years it was used. All I can do now is wait and see if the problem arises again. What makes a problem hard to trace is one that is so intermittent. Since swopping the mouse for the larger one on the 4th of this month there has been no further problems so I shall consider the problem as resolved.
